God's Grace

There are several definitions of what Grace is according to Merriam-Webster dictionary. It marks on the religious point of what grace is calling Grace "a virtue coming from God". Which, we all probably know that Grace comes from God, but that is not the definition of Grace I want to look at.  Merriam-Webster also defines Grace as Approval, Favor, Mercy, and Pardon. Those four defining points of Grace is what truly makes it up. I want to go through each point.

Romans 4:4-6
When people work, their pay is not regarded as a gift but something they have earned. However, when people don’t work but believe God, the one who approves ungodly people, their faith is regarded as the basis of God’s approval. David says the same thing about those who are blessed: God approves of people without their earning it

We do not have to work for the gifts God gives us. As humans, we are constantly trying to earn people's approval. It is definitely natural to want approval, but the reality is we will not always receive it from people we want it from. In comes God, we have his approval, and we can always find it in him. Plus, it's free!

Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

I love this so much. The fact that God only wants good things for us is amazing. We are all favored by him. You are his favorite.

Ephesians 2:4-5
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- by grace, you have been saved-

Mercy is definitely a great gift that God gives us. As sinners, we deserve death and yet He gives us everlasting life. There was nothing we could do to earn it. God gave us mercy when we were dead.

John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to pardon us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God is so good. He freely gives us forgiveness and all good things, just because He loves us. All we have to do is confess and believe. None of it is based on our works. For a long time. it was hard for me to believe I didn't have to earn forgiveness. I tried to be the perfect Christian and fell short everytime. Thank goodness, God opened my eyes to how he freely pardons us.

Over the past year, God has continuously opened my eyes to His Grace and what it means. I grew up in a religious culture that I was constantly questioning if I was truly saved because sometimes I struggled with reading my bible or I didn't always feel God's presence. I was living in a lie. God's Grace saves me from the responsibility of saving myself. There's nothing I can do to earn God's love and forgiveness. Thank God for Grace.

Tell me about what God has revealed to you!
